Excerpted from the volume (translated from French), The edition of this folio has been directed by Marcel Jacno. The original lithographs by Jacques Villon were printed by Mourlot Frères. The text was composed in Romain du roi and shot on the presses of L'Imprimerie nationale. Printing was finished on April 7, 1962. JACQUES VILLON (1875-1963), also known as Gaston Duchamp, was a French Cubist and abstract painter and printmaker. Among Villon's greatest achievements as a printmaker was his creation of a purely graphic language for cubism – an accomplishment that no other printmaker, including his fellow cubists Pablo Picasso or Georges Braque, could claim.
