Published by Louis Carré, éditeur, Paris; printed by Mourlot Frères, Paris, May 16, 1948. Excerpted from the volume (translated from French), Printing was finished on the Sixteenth of May, One Thousand Nine Hundred and Forty Eight on the presses of l'Imprimerie Union for typography and Mourlot Frères for the boards in lithography. It was drawn MDCCC examples on vélin du marais numbered as I a MDCCC.
JACQUES VILLON (1875-1963), also known as Gaston Duchamp, was a French Cubist and abstract painter and printmaker. Among Villon's greatest achievements as a printmaker was his creation of a purely graphic language for cubism – an accomplishment that no other printmaker, including his fellow cubists Pablo Picasso or Georges Braque, could claim.
