Excerpted from the album (translated from French), This album, printed on the presses of Marcel Seheur for typography and by Paul Haasen, for the etchings of Marcel Gromaire, was prepared with the following justification: 1 example with the author's drawings and the various states, 25 examples in japon Shidzuoka, numbered from 1 to 25, and 225 examples on vélin d'Arches, numbered from 26 to 250, plus 20 examples of non-commerce including 7 in japon, numbered from I to XX. Finished printing on the fifteenth of September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, Lucien Boucher being artistic director.
MARCEL GROMAIRE (1892-1971) was a French painter. He painted many works on social subjects and is often associated with Social Realism, but Gromaire can be said to have created an independent oeuvre distinct from groups and movements. He was in the milieu of Picasso, Chagall, Miro, and Matisse.
