Lithograph and stencil on vélin de Rives paper. Paper size: 11.24 x 14.96 inches. Excellent condition. Inscription: signed in the plate and unnumbered, as issued. Notes: From the folio, Dignimont, 1946. Published by Éditions du Livre, Monte-Carlo, under the direction of André Sauret, Éditeur, Monte-Carlo; printed by Mourlot Frères, Paris, 1946. Excerpted from the folio (translated from French), This folio has been printed in CCCLXXXV examples on vélin de Rives, numbered to the press from I to CCCLXXXV. Dignimont's original lithograph as the frontispiece is hand-numbered and signed by the artist. In addition, XXV non-commercial examples were drawn and marked in Roman numerals from I to XXV.
ANDRÉ DIGNIMONT (1891-1965) is known for Figure, genre, and painting, illustration, set design. Dignimont was born in Paris. He studied at the College Juilly, worked for a time in London, then returned to Paris to study at Acade´mie Julian. He was a very prolific artist and illustrator for more than four decades.
