Lithograph on vélin paper. Paper size: 13.39 x 9.005 inches. Excellent condition. Inscription: Unsigned and unnumbered, as issued. Notes: From the album, Le Cirque D'Izis, avec quatre compositions originales de Marc Chagall, 1965. Published by André Sauret, Éditeur, Monte Carlo; printed by l'imprimerie Moderne du Lion, Paris, January, 1965. Excerpted from the album (translated from French), This album, directed by André Sauret, with the photographs and the model of Izis Bidermanas, was completed to print in January, 1965. It was printed by l'imprimerie C.-J. Bucher S.A., in Lucerne (Switzerland). The off-texts were printed on l'imprimerie Moderne du Lion in Paris. L'imprimerie Nationale de France was responsible for composing by hand in gauge body 16, and drawing the preface by Jacques Prévert on its presses. The binding was carried out by the ateliers Busenhart in Lausanne (Switzerland).
MARC CHAGALL (1897-1985) Russian-Jewish painter is recognized as one of the most significant painters and graphic artists of his time. Chagall painted in a style all his own, combining elements of Expressionism, Symbolism, Cubism and, to a lesser degree, other Modernist art movements. His works combine recollection with folklore and fantasy. A prolific and multi-faceted artist, Chagall left behind him thousands of works in many different techniques and media that have established him as one of the foremost artists of the 20th Century.
