Published by Éditions du Seuil, Paris; printed by Mourlot Frères, Paris, 1973. Excerpted from the album (translated from French), From this album, made with the collaboration of Gérard Bosio and completed printing in 1973 by l'imprimerie Mame à Tours for the text, and by l'imprimerie Mourlot à Paris for the illustrations. It was shot CLXXX examples on vélin d'Arches, signed by L.S. Senghor and Marc Chagall, including CL, numbered from I to CL and XXX outside the trade numbered from I to XXX, and 2000 examples on vélin Mazarine, numbered from I to MM.
MARC CHAGALL (1897-1985) Russian-Jewish painter is recognized as one of the most significant painters and graphic artists of his time. Chagall painted in a style all his own, combining elements of Expressionism, Symbolism, Cubism and, to a lesser degree, other Modernist art movements. His works combine recollection with folklore and fantasy. A prolific and multi-faceted artist, Chagall left behind him thousands of works in many different techniques and media that have established him as one of the foremost artists of the 20th Century.
